Apple releases new statistics revealing iOS 9 adoption has reached 70%
And wonder how the app helps Apple, here’s what Cue has to say, “We benefit by creating a great application on our devices”.
IOS adoption rates are a lot better because of Apple’s upgrade policy and because the whole upgrade procedure on the OS is simpler to contend with and simpler.
iOS 8 is being run by 22 percent of iOS devices, while previous versions are being run in around 8% of the devices. iOS 8 and iOS 9 are altogether used by 92 percent of active iOS users report the sources. Apple issues iOS updates to iPhone and iPad owners straight from its servers, prompting and reminding people to install the latest update. Combined stats indicate 92 percent of iOS users are running iOS 8 and iOS 9. The Android update process can be long and complicated and manufacturers do not have incentive to update their entire product lines, preferring to just sell new phones (the way Apple does every year with the new version of iOS). The company has also not stopped supporting any older device with this year’s major update – a trend usually associated with most of Apple’s software updates.
A few weeks ago, Google had silently released Chrome beta for iOS via Apple’s TestFlight beta distribution service, which included 3D Touch support for quicker access.
Adoption rates for Marshmallow were running at 0.3%, while versions 5.0 and 5.1 of Lollipop were 15.5% and 10.1%, respectively.
Comparatively, when it comes to Android, around 26 percent of users were using Lollipop or Marshmallow on November 2, 2015.
Beyond a huge performance upgrade from the iPhone 6 (we’re talking at least twice as fast as those phones) the headline feature of the 6S and 6S Plus is 3D Touch, allowing the device’s touchscreen to sense how much pressure you’re applying with a touch. Importantly, in the most recent launch, the percent of new model buyers opting for the Plus model increased measurably over the 6/6 Plus launch.
