Chart shows just how dominating Stephen Curry has been this season
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Charlotte Hornets broadcaster Dell Curry told his son before Wednesday night’s game, “do not ruin my night”. He scored 28 of the Warriors’ 33 points, including 24 straight. “It doesn’t even sound right, to be honest”. If he kept up that pace in the final quarter, he would be averaging closer to 36 points per game.
– Warriors interim coach Luke Walton, pre-game, on the change in the Hornets’ offense.
Curry scored 40 points in the season opener and totaled 40 points or more in five of the 19 games (and now he’s at six out of 20). He was quick to give credit to his teammates though.
“It’s getting surreal, for sure”, Curry said. “Draymond impacting the game the way he does every night, we kind of fed off that from the beginning.” the reigning MVP said. “We kind of fed off that in the beginning”.
Earlier this season, the Clippers could only watch as their 23-point lead disappeared and turned into a loss at the hands of Golden State. Green struggled offensively, scoring just 4 points with 5 turnovers, but he finished with 11 boards and 9 dimes. I can’t ask for more. Curry said. “I made a promise to coach McKillop and my family that when I left school back in ’09 that that would be accomplished-and it will be soon”.
Never mind that the Warriors committed 21 turnovers.
At one point, Curry gestured to pump up the crowd.
“For him to be here and be a part of this, and the way they are playing, makes it extra special”.
The Pistons started overtime with an 8-1 run, but a pair of missed free throws by Drummond helped Phoenix narrow the gap to 122-120 with 1:27 seconds to play (see full recap). Big man Al Jefferson did not play due to left calf strain and will be out for at least two weeks. Nic Batum led the Hornets with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Hornets rookie Frank Kaminsky had a career-high 16 points. Jeremy Lamb and Spencer Hawes finished with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The Warriors shot 52.3 percent from the field for the game and were 16 of 34 from 3-point range.
Afterward, he said he couldn’t have imagined a better evening, especially since the Hornets honored his father as the franchise’s all-time scoring leader during a ceremony at halftime. Charlotte is now 10-8 in the season.
Curry led all players with 10 30-point games and tied for a league-best with five 40-point performances. Dell was the 1993-94 NBA Sixth Man of the Year.
