FD: 4 Dead, 2 Residents Injured in 3-Alarm Fire
Coan said that once the flames were knocked down, firefighters went back inside and found the remains of four people on the second floor.
Four people are dead, and two people were rushed to the hospital after an apartment fire in Lynn.
The blaze happened at 12:45 a.m.at a three-family home.
“The four victims were found on the second floor”, said Jennifer Mieth, spokesperson for the state fire marshal’s office.
Two women were pulled out of the building unconscious, but firefighters couldn’t go back inside because the conditions became too risky.
Crews said the fire is out, but was hard to extinguish.
CBS Boston reported that Lynn Fire Chief Jim McDonald described the victims as being in their late teens and older. We had fires throughout the building.
According to WMTW, an 18-year-old woman and a woman in her 60s were hospitalized.
The investigation into the cause of the fatal fire is underway, but no answer is yet available for where or why the fire was ignited, Coan said.
Officials said as many as 19 people lived in the building.
