Manny Pacquiao Next Fight: Terence Crawford, Timothy Bradley, Amir Khan in the
Khan is the least likely to be chosen because the Briton is under a different promoter and Arum is reportedly not intending to negotiate with a second party for Pac-Man’s swan song.
The fight is supposed to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the choices are three fighters picked by Arum for Pacquiao to supposedly select from. Though nothing has been announced yet, the British southpaw is reportedly mapping out a back-up plan, and this could see him finally facing fellow Briton Kell Brook in 2016.
“I think Arum believes that Crawford will turn into a PPV star if he fights Pacquiao”, Williams wrote.
Apparently, Floyd Sr., shares the same sentiments with most of the people behind Pacquiao when it comes to Crawford being the final opponent.
Considering the lack of star power from Pacquiao’s list of opponents, it seems unlikely that the Filipino fighter would net a huge amount from his last fight if he chooses Bradley or Crawford.
“Do I hope he doesn’t pick Khan though?” The Pacquiao gravy train is going to be screeching to an abrupt stop after next April with no more big money PPV fights like before unless someone like Crawford can magically be turned into a PPV star by using Pacquiao as a stepping stone by whipping him badly next year and leaving him knocked out.
“I told everybody that the fight was easy”, he continued.
Running under the ticket of the United Alliance of presidential hopeful, Vice President Jejomar Binay, Pacquiao is confident he will be able to win one of the 12 senatorial seats up for grabs, Arum said.
Everyone knows that Floyd Jr. eventually opted to go with a lesser known fighter in Andre Berto in what was technically a ho-hum fight since everyone knew the outcome even before the opening bell.
Bob Arum says that Manny Pacquiao will make his decision on his final opponent by Friday, ending months of speculation. Khan had also played the waiting game in trying to lure Mayweather into fighting him and that fell through. The fight was extremely controversial on both ends as Mayweather was accused of making the fight boring while Pacquiao was criticized for not disclosing his shoulder injury which is said to be a defining factor on why he lost. There’s no point in Arum trotting Bradley out again.
