Downey Jr. confirms Spider-Man will appear in ‘Civil War’
After Tom Holland was cast as the new Peter Paker for a standalone “Spider-Man” film set to debut in 2017, some folks wondered if he’d pop up in “Captain America: Civil War”.
Marvel Studios had not given any hint regarding Spider-Man being a part of the instalment of Captain America in their first trailer which premiered on November 24 this year.
Spider-Man is still technically a Sony property, which complicated things, but earlier this year, Sony agreed to an interesting license-sharing deal that would allow Marvel to use the web slinger as a supporting character in a few films while Sony retained the rights to co-produce and release the hero’s stand-alone films.
Robert Downey Jr. mentioned, “We’re now like the old guard, and our storyline carries real weight just because of our history in the [canon]. He fits the part like you can’t believe”, Joe adds. “He’s also a dancer and a gymnast”.
We’ve already heard how Black Widow is going to factor into things, as well as more details about the airport fight, among many other tidbits of info, but now we’ve got something else to share with you.
So is Spider-Man in Civil War or not? Tom Holland has been officially confirmed by Marvel to be the next Spider-Man, its simply that the only movie hes been officially announced in is the next Spider-Man standalone film.
He’s under the cloak of secrecy. Joe also said that Holland was fantastic and unbelievable, comparing the young actor to Christian Bale in “Empire of the Sunday”. Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes the Winter Soldier, also remained quiet about Holland’s role in the film. And in some cases there are some you will meet ever so briefly in this film and then will be expanded upon in future films. “It looks a little bit like he’s playing one game when actually he’s playing another”, he teased.
Viewers will be able to see Chris Evans as Steve Rogers or Captain America. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
