Jewish victim of California attack had argued with shooter about Islam
Jennifer Thalasinos, Nicholas’ wife, told the New York Times that she and her husband were “devout Messianic Jews”, a religious group that identifies as Jewish but considers Jesus to be the messiah, combining elements of Judaism with core Christian doctrine.
Kuuleme Stephens told news media she was part of a telephone discussion with Thalasinos, a health inspector, and Farook when she heard the Messianic Jewish man describe Farook as one who “doesn’t agree that Islam is not a peaceful religion”.
Beck said his wife, Barb, who still works as a Cape May health inspector, had spoken to Thalasinos on Sunday regarding cancer surgery.
Stephens reiterated that she didn’t feel there was a threat of any pending violence, but it’s still not sure if the debates factored into the attack.
“I have some people in the congregation who you would know like that, but that was not the way I knew Nick”, he said.
Thalasinos, she said, was “pro everything American” and enjoyed talking about politics, including his support for the Second Amendment right to bear arms and his anti-abortion stance.
Thalasinos had two adult sons.
The network also noted that the newly-deceased man was “very religious” and “had several Bible quotes” on his Facebook page.
Another Facebook friend went so far as to say she believes Thalaspinos was targeted. Now a California resident, Thalasinos was also was also was a Messianic Jew whose Facebook page with filled condemnations of Muslims and Jihadist terror.
“He was with us for 14 years”, Thornton said. The message said, according to his post, that “you will die and never see Israel as country believe me never”. “I don’t think he saw that coming, that he could be violent”. Jennifer lived in Colton and Nicholas lived in New Jersey.
A GoFundMe page set up to help Jennifer with funeral costs describes their relationship as “a truly romantic, fairy tale love”. He posted one of these messages at 12:30 AM on December 2, 2015, approximately, eleven hours before the San Bernardino shooting started!
“I know in my heart for me to move on in life, I’m going to have to forgive them for what they did”, Jessica Thalasinos told INSIDE EDITION.
“We are definitely going to address that”, he said.
