Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts were scheduled to perform on Thursday at the Medina Inn, about 20 miles (32 km) northwest of Bloomington, but the show was canceled, the venue said on its website.
The Stone Temple Pilots eventually reunited in 2008. Among that group’s hits was “Fall to Pieces” and “Slither”, which won the Grammy for best hard rock performance. He did not provide further details but referenced a statement on Weiland’s Facebook page.
Born Scott Richard Kline in San Jose, California, he rose to prominence as the lead singer of grunge rock band Stone Temple Pilots in the 1990s, which he had formed with brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo.
TMZ reported that Weiland “famously battled substance abuse for years”.
