Resident Evil 2 Will be Remade From the Ground Up
In an interview with MCV, Capcom‘s marketing director Antoine Molant said that the company couldn’t be more happy with the results.
Capcom has confirmed that the upcoming Resident Evil 2 will be a remake, and not a remaster.
The enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake likely spurred from the popularity of Resident Evil HD earlier this year. “RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster”. They took the original version and presented them in high-def, with an option of widescreen or original aspect ratio views, and updated controls to something a bit more modern than the original turn-face-walk scheme.
Let’s hope we’ll hear more about Resident Evil 2 remake in the near future. Although Capcom shut the team down, they invited the indie group to meet and discuss the project. Well, we’ll definitely be getting HD graphics and much improved sound, but if it’s anything like the original Resident Evil remake for the GameCube we’ll also see new gameplay, new story, and new environments. It should be interesting to see Leon back as a police officer when the remake comes, especially since fans know how he has grown over the years. If that first remake is any indication, that means that familiar places will be filled with new surprises like puzzles and creatures, while wholly original additions will shake things up for those who don’t just want a repeat of the past. The publisher didn’t share any other detail at the time of announcement.
The remake of “Resident Evil 2” is rumored to have a total makeover; however, there is no release date for it yet.
