Bill Clinton opening fundraising spree for wife’s campaign
Former President Bill Clinton is going on a fundraising swing reminiscent of his presidential campaigns of the 1990s.
However, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released this morning, Vermont Sen.
The unanimous vote on Friday among the ironworkers’ general executive council, announced on Monday, brings to 14 the number of unions that have thrown their weight behind the former secretary of state.
Quinnipiac found that 51 percent of likely Democratic caucusgoers favor Clinton – the same as in October. “Essentially Secretary Clinton has taken a solid, not overwhelming, but solid lead in the Caucuses and for her, that’s just fine”.
Sanders wins with “liberal” Iowa D caucusgoers. “Sanders, who then might become the “momentum” candidate”, Brown said.
The Clinton campaign also points to her record, saying it shows a history of working to regulate the industry. “She has a big edge in money and party organization in the larger states that follow and where Sanders doesn’t poll as well as he does in the early, smaller state contests”.
Mrs. Clinton has been pressed to retract her use of a term that offends people who entered the US illegally, according to Hispanic activists who are demanding expanded immigration rights and citizenship for the country’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants.
While Clinton’s lead is still significant, the poll shows that Democrats have yet to give up the idea of a challenger to Clinton, who has trust issues for many voters and still has higher unfavorable ratings among the electorate.
The poll surveyed 543 likely Iowa Democratic caucus participants from November 16-22 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2 percentage points. On Tuesday, the Laborers’ International Union of North America, or LIUNA, chose to back Clinton rather than other Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley, the Huffington Post reported. Only 25 percent of Sanders backers agreed. “Conversely, 80 percent of Democrats say: ‘Sure, we as a country should admit them'”.
David Brock, a Clinton supporter who runs several progressive groups aiding her candidacy, said Bill Clinton is a “gifted orator who has the ability to move people”.
Both Clinton and Sanders have an 81 percent favorability rating from these voters. They have names, and hopes and dreams that deserve to be respected”, Clinton wrote, adding, “I’ve talked about undocumented immigrants hundreds of times and fought for years for comprehensive immigration reform. “I’m proud that 60 percent of our donors are women, and even prouder that we’re building a country where we can finally say to all our daughters, ‘Yes, you can be anything you want when you grow up, even President of the United States'”.
Likely Democratic caucus goers – 47 percent – said Sanders would be the best steward of the economy, while 42 percent preferred Clinton.
