Broncos deny report that Brock Osweiler will start rest of season
Rob Gronkowski sustained a bone bruise and sprain of his right knee during New England’s 30-24 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night, the Patriots and the Gronkowski family said in a joint statement.
Out with a partially torn plantar fascia, Manning, who had the cast removed from his left foot Wednesday, was in attendance and met with Osweiler at halftime to discuss strategy. “I’ve always wanted to meet “they” and ‘sources, ‘ because both seem to know a lot. I haven’t thought much other than about trying to get healthy”, Manning said. “That’s kind of where my focus is”.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – All the speculation surrounding whether Brock Osweiler will return to his backup role could prove to be moot – Peyton Manning isn’t healthy and there’s no telling when that might change. “I don’t know”, Kubiak said. I’d love for it to be healthy yesterday, I can assure you… there’s no guarantee whatsoever.
“I’ll be working hard to get back out on the field as soon as possible, and when I’m 100 percent, feeling good, cleared by all the doctors (and) the team, that’s when I’ll be back”.
And they know what we’re doing, Peyton knows exactly that we’re trying to get him as healthy as we possibly can … “And nothing’s changed where we’re heading this week, Brock’s our starter this week and we’re all in getting ready for San Diego”. We are week-to-week and doing everything we can to win the next football game. He rehabbed the injury the following week, then suffered through his worst performance as a pro.
He last played on November 15, throwing four picks against the Chiefs before being benched late in the third quarter.
“The biggest question this week is really going to be about when the cast comes off – does it come off early this week or does it come off at the end of the week?”
Osweiler said he’s not ready to view his starting job as more than a temporary gig.
Manning echoed the week-to-week mentality. According to Adam Schefter, Manning has progressed today in his injury, as told by head coach Gary Kubiak. “He [Anderson] kind of says that you can call it a tear”. I just think it’s a matter of us having an idea. “It’s been going on for a little bit of time”. That was just one of those situations last week where we didn’t play as well as we would’ve liked to for 60 minutes. He said I have an injured foot. Everybody said, ‘Well, when did he say it’s going to get better?’ When it heals.
