Police find cocaine on Weiland’s tour bus
According to TMZ, police say they found a suspected controlled substance that field tested positive as cocaine in the bed room in which Weiland died, while they found another small amount of the same substance which belonged to Black.
The singer died in his sleep on a tour stop in suburban Minneapolis, according to a statement on his Facebook page confirmed by his manager, Tom Vitorino.
Police said say they found cocaine in the bedroom of the tour bus where Weiland was found dead. The man hasn’t been charged. “Additional information related to cause of death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office at a later date/time”, police said.
Weiland was found dead on his tour bus on the same night he was to play a gig in Minnesota with his current band, The Wildabouts. The website showed the event was canceled but didn’t give a reason.
Amongst many other tributes to the singer, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins penned an essay in his memory, and reflected on the times he dismissed Stone Temple Pilots in the ’90s, before later becoming a fan.
Scott Weiland, a rock vocalist who first gained fame with the 1990s band Stone Temple Pilots, has died.
ET previously reported that following the news of Weiland’s death, stars like Dave Navarro, Nikki Sixx and Jack Osbourne all took to social media to express their condolences.
In between touring and recording stints with his original band, Weiland worked with members of Guns N’ Roses Slash, Matt Sorum, and Duff McKagen, in rock supergroup Velvet Revolver.
“I saw Scott Weiland perform many times and those were some of my favorite concerts of all time”.
Cocaine was discovered in multiple locations in throughout the tour bus after the authorities executed a search warrant as part of their investigation into the death of the former Stone Temple Pilots frontman. However, sources told the outlet that Weiland was not doing heroin, a drug he battled much of his life.
Halfway through that 10-year plan, in 2013, he was sacked from the band because of drugs.
His third wife, photographer Jamie Wachtel Weiland, said that her husband hadn’t done drugs in years and that the band members had a pact not to do drugs. In 1998, he was accused of possessing heroin and was arrested in 2003 and 2007 as he was found drunk while driving.
