Rolls-Royce wins two new contracts worth over US$2.2bn
It has placed an order for Trent 700 engines to power a fleet of 20 Airbus A330 Regional aircraft.
After a rocky few months in which its share price has plummeted, Rolls-Royce delivered some positive news to investors with the announcement of two new corporate contracts together worth over £1bn. According to Rolls-Royce, the Trent 700 is the clear market leader on the A330 with more than 60 per cent of new orders over the last three years.
SAUDIA already has 12 A330s now in service powered by the Trent 700. More than 1,500 Trent 700s are now in service or on order, making it the largest in-service Trent engine.
Moulay Omar Alaoui, worldwide AirFinance Corporation’s president and chief executive, said: ‘We selected the Trent 700 as the best solution in terms of economics and reliability.’.
Rolls-Royce also said today that it has won a contract to supply global AirFinance Corporation (IAFC) with US$930m worth of Trent 700 engines for 20 Airbus A330 Regional aircraft. Rolls is also being investigated by the Serious Fraud Office over allegations of corruption in Indonesia and China, and was dragged into a bribery scandal involving Brazil’s state oil producer Petrobras in February amid allegations that it had used backhanders to win a contract worth $100 million (£64 million). Director general Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser said: “We are pleased to be once again operating the Trent 700 for our latest aircraft”.
