National Football League defends face-mask call allowing Packers’ Hail Mary TD
“I came in this morning, watched during breakfast and I just saw an incredible throw, Hail Mary by Aaron Rodgers”. Everyone knows him now for hauling in Aaron Rodgers’s 61-yard Hail Mary to beat the Detroit Lions on Thursday. “You want to get the ball into the end zone and you want to get people around it. However you orchestrate that, I mean you don’t want to throw it short and you don’t want to throw it out”, Belichick said.
The team’s no-time-left-on-the-clock win put gamblers and bookies into the red from the black. Detroit had plenty of people in the end zone, but the Lions may have misjudged the high throw.
In fact, replays showed that Josh Byrnes (No. 57) was on tight end Richard Rodgers, but when Byrnes saw the ball go up, he turned and ran to the scrum the end zone, leaving the tight end unguarded.
There was no need for all that. For the time being Packers fans get ten days to bask in the glow of this victory.

Alas, the flag was thrown on a play in which a Lions defensive lineman got his thumbnail on Rodgers’ face-mask, which was enough to draw the penalty. “I don’t really flop any calls or anything, that was a legit facemask”. If the Vikings and Packers are within a game of each other in either direction going into their Week 17 showdown at Lambeau, the victor of that game will win the division. Why?
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Richard Rodgers Sr. had bragging rights over his son for his role in “The Play”, which gave Cal an unlikely victory over Stanford in 1982 with the Cardinal band on the field.
The desperation heave from Aaron Rodgers earned the desperate Packers (8-4) an unlikely win.
Taylor now has five sacks. Detroit coach Jim Caldwell was expecting a lateral play. The QB capped the 84-yard drive by running for a TD, pulling Green Bay within two. Lang (shoulder) and tackle Bryan Bulaga (ankle) were inactive for the game, and center Corey Linsley left in the first half with an ankle injury.
First of all, the facemask call was weak.
LUCKY BOUNCE: The end of the fourth quarter wasn’t the only point when fortune smiled on the Packers.
One snap after Aaron Rodgers overthrew James Jones and Glover Quin intercepted the pass, Johnson added to his highlights.
Prater’s 42-yard field goal restored a two-score lead for the Lions with 7:06 left but te Packers responded with Rodgers’ rushing touchdown with 3:04 remaining.
