Soldier, two terrorists killed in Handwara encounter
Two terrorists and a soldier were killed today in a fierce encounter in a forest area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The slain soldier has been identified as Nayak Satish Kumar from Charkhi Dadri village in Bhiwani district, Haryana.
According to reports 21 RR and SOG Handwara received inputs about terrorists hiding in the Rajwar area and soon they started an operation to eliminate the rebels.
At least three major groups of militants are active in Handwara, Kupwara and Bandipora forest ranges.
In an encounter between militants and India soldier, two militants and One Army man were killed on Friday.
“We recovered 2 AK 47 rifles, 1 AK56 rifle, Long Brl Rif (Sniper), 2 Pistols, 1 UBGL, 2005 AK47 bullets, 4 UBGL grenades, 20 rounds of Pistols, 5 rounds of Sniper and a Pistol Holster”, he said.
On Thursday, three guerrillas were killed in Poonch district of Jammu region when alert army men foiled an infiltration bid from across the Line of Control (LoC) into the Indian side from Pakistan-administered part of the state.
