Plane crashes in India after hitting wild boars
“The landing gears towards its left and its nose had collapsed”, said a Spicejet spokesperson. All passengers and the 4 crew members are safe.
As many as 53 people including 49 passengers onboard SpiceJet Mumbai to Jabalpur flight had a close shave after a herd of wild animals came across the Bombardier Q400 aircraft just when it landed at the Jabalpur airport on Friday.
The pilot was forced to apply emergency brakes when the boars ran onto the runway, and the plane skidded off the tarmac after colliding with the animals.
A passenger plane has crashed during landing, skidding off the runway, after it hit a herd of wild boars.
As per details available with the carrier, the aircraft swirled to the left and was off the runway after being hit.
The company said all on board were safe. “None of the passengers or crew suffered injuries”, a SpiceJet official told the daily.
SpiceJet later tweeted on their officials handle, “SpiceJet Q-400, flight SG 2458, Mumbai to Jabalpur upon landing, hit a herd of wild boars that had strayed into the runway”.
Seven boar were killed in the incident that left the aircraft grounded with damage to its landing gear and undercarriage.
