Aaron Hernandez reportedly moved into segregation unit
“The segregated unit is a separate area of the prison where prisoners who are in protective custody or who are a concern to the general population are housed”, Fiandaca wrote.
According to a report from WHDH, Hernandez has allegedly been moved to a segregated unit after a sweep of his cell at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center turned up illegal contraband.
There is no word yet on any possible punishment. Serving a life sentence for murder while facing trial on double-murder charges, Hernandez now faces additional problems.
A spokesperson at the Department of Correction declined to comment.
This isn’t the first time Hernandez has been in trouble while on the inside.
Hernandez has been involved in other scuffles while in prison, including a May prison fight that landed him in the segregation unit. The two inmates fought, with a source telling CNN the altercation was believed to be gang-related. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty. That is scheduled to begin in early January. The rising star with the Patriots had signed a five-year deal with New England worth $40 million in August 2012.
