Police say suspect shot and killed in robbery attempt
Police told NBC Miami that the alleged perpetrator is being charged with attempted murder. The injuries were not life-threatening, police said Friday.
The scene caused confusion among patrons at the event, who thought they watching a piece of performance art.
Det. Kathleen Prieto, spokeswoman of Miami Beach police, said a woman stabbed another in the neck and arms with X-Acto knife. The two women were both patrons of the show, police say.
What was more stunning was that some other witnesses thought the police tape cordoning the area was an installation even after the discovery.
However, neither of the two women displayed art at the event, and according to reports, the artist of a nearby exhibit, Naomi Fisher, said she heard a scuffle and then saw a woman being taken away by paramedics around 5:30 p.m.
Fisher said the stabbing took place in front of booth N29, where Freedman Fitzpatrick Gallery from Los Angeles was exhibiting. “The attack was an isolated incident that was immediately secured”.
One artist reportedly took a photo of the incident showing a woman with blood stains on her shirt.
Officers responded and were told the suspect had fled the scene and was seen entering a barbershop at 1530 Alton Road, officials said.
“Our thoughts are with the victim”.
Kravitz is among dozens of celebs, including Hilary Swank, Sylvester Stallone, Eva Longoria and Katie Holmes, who are in town for the prestigious art fair, which is an extension of the annual contemporary art fair in Basel, Switzerland.
It “shows me how lonely and empty and hurt and unloved people feel”, he said, looking every bit a rock star in a suede leopard jacket, blue paisley button down and characteristic sunglasses.
