Play as Stephen Colbert in This Free Text Adventure Game

The Stephen Colbert-helmed iteration of The Late Show doesn’t commence until September 8, but thankfully, Colbert and co. have been bestowing upon us many little treats and tidbits throughout the summer to make the waiting hurt less.

You’re Stephen Colbert and you have a whole day’s worth of adventuring to do in your office-you know, the one you have now taken over as a result of your new gig at The Late Show. Even though the responses are predetermined and don’t require any actual typing, Escape From The Man-Sized Cabinet is still a fairly surprising and well thought out text adventure.

Space Quest, this is not.

I won’t explain what happens inside Escape from the Man-sized Cabinet, because there’s nothing quite as humorless as explaining a joke. So without giving too much away, it turns out the man-sized cabinet also serves as a portal to a fantastical magical realm.

If you find the game isn’t up to your standards, you could try and build your own with Twine, the same tool used to create Colbert’s game.
