Lindsey Vonn victorious again in Lake Louise
Mirjam Puchner of Austria was fastest in the second training run Thursday for the women’s Lake Louise World Cup downhill. She did well in her return, too, leading the way for an American sweep as Stacey Cook took second and Julia Mancuso third.
Vonn now has 68 World Cup victories, with almost a quarter of them coming at Lake Louise.
Vonn shaved seven hundredths of a second off her winning time from Friday as she stopped the clock at one minute and 50.43 seconds to triumph by a significant margin.
“That was not planned”, Vonn commented on the mistake she made mid-course.
LAKE LOUISE, Alberta (AP) – Another race at Lake Louise and yet another win for Lindsey Vonn.
“I still don’t think I’m quite to the form that I was in 2012”, Vonn said. Saturday’s downhill starts at 2:30 pm. “She’s so sweet and always makes me little good luck charms”. Yurkiw carved so tight a turn there that she lost speed. “I should probably not do that tomorrow. I was trying to nail the line so badly it turned out to be over-controlling”.
Grenier, 19, raced just the second World Cup downhill of her career and her first at Lake Louise.
“It was going pretty well”. “I’m disappointed that I didn’t finish”.
The athletes will get another chance to master the course as a second downhill is scheduled for Saturday followed by a super-G on Sunday.
