Forecasters issue heat advisory for Arkansas through Sunday
A Heat Advisory is in effect for the following areas from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday: The cities of Franklin, Newport News, and Williamsburg.
The brutal and unsafe heat returns to the Valley this weekend and a heat advisory is in effect Saturday and Sunday.
On Friday, heat will increase further, with temperatures of 32 to 36 °C expected during the day, with a lot of sunshine and small batches of cloud, sometimes accompanied by brief showers.
“Staying out of the sun for extended periods of time, stay in air-conditioned space”. High pressure is controlling our weather pattern and this big bubble of high pressure is expected to keep the temperatures hot and the forecast dry.
The combination of heat and humidity prompted authorities to issue an air quality alert for the region for Monday.
Another chance for storms hits Chicago Sunday afternoon with another risk for rain, lightning, gusty wind and hail. But it’s important to realize that Sunday will be abnormally “extreme heat” – and if you plan to work or spend any time outside, you will need to take extra precautions. A few isolated t’storms could offer temporary relief.
Today will be a scorcher in many inland towns, with temperatures up around 90 degrees and oppressive humidity.
Storms will form Saturday night in northern Missouri, north of HWY 24 as a cold front which is moving in from the north interacts with increasing low level winds from the southwest. The heat index will range from 105-110 degrees areawide.
We’ll see highs around 98 Saturday.
Wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and damage to roofs is possible, the weather service said.
