Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show
It’s official! Coldplay is headlining the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, and the British rockers are giving us a behind-the-scenes look as they prepare to take the stage for TV’s most-watched event.
Coldplay has been confirmed as the headline performer for the Super Bowl 50 halftime show.
The NFL said the Super Bowl 50 halftime show is still being planned and there will be multiple acts. The Black Eyed Peas included Slash and Usher in 2011; Madonna brought LMFAO and Nicki Minaj in 2012; and Katy Perry welcomed Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz a year ago.
The attention given to Thursday’s announcement underscores how much the Halftime Show has transformed since the first Super Bowl was held in 1967 in Los Angeles.
On the day before its new album arrives, Coldplay has landed arguably the world’s most coveted concert gig.
After 30 minutes of football and two hours worth of largely terrible but occasionally entertaining commercials, the Super Bowl Halftime Show is a change of pace.
Also taking the Super Bowl stage again will be Bruno Mars, who performed with Red Hot Chili Peppers at halftime of last season’s Super Bowl.
Coldplay’s new album, out on Friday, was made with the producers behind pop hits including Rihanna’s Rude Boy, Katy Perry’s Firework and Beyonce’s Irreplaceable.
“The Super Bowl offer is a no-brainer for the band”.
The rock band’s lead singer, Chris Martin and other band mates, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Jonny Buckland, recently signed a contract of agreement to perform at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the National Football League event, which is sponsored by PepsiCo Inc. The band has been selling more than 80 million copies of their six No. 1 albums and received eight BRIT awards.
