PIB regrets the doctoring of Modi’s image, claims there is ‘difference between
The prime minister is a prolific tweeter with more than 16 million followers.
The Prime Minister was speaking at the 13th edition of Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi.
He called on states to collectively work hand in hand with the Centre to keep this pace going for achieving sustained success. India can move ahead only on the strong shoulders of the states and not from Delhi alone.
More than 280 people have been killed and thousands of residents displaced as the south-eastern state continues to experience its heaviest rainfall in a century.
He said states had now been given additional finances based on the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission.
He also said east India will be linked with a gas grid.
States which were usually ignored, Odisha, Jharkhand & Chhattisgarh, did well in “Ease of Doing Business” rankings, he said.
At another point, he said if Modi had made a decision to cut subsidy so those who consider themselves as reformists would have praised him for weeks. The first change or credit to the people is giving a full mandate.
A number of the Indian government’s reforms bills is pending for the parliament’s approval, but the opposition parties’ disruptions have been derailing Modi’s development agenda.
On this occassion, he announced that two railway engine factories will be set up in Bihar. There are 18,000 villages which don’t have even an electricity pole.
Progress of the country can not be done only from Delhi, states also play a vital role in this process, the Prime Minister added.
“We will not allow anyone to falsify the facts”, another official in Modi’s office said yesterday.
Modi said these changes have not come overnight and they are the results of hard work of his government.
