Man tries to snort cocaine during traffic stop
According to the police department, the man ends up complimenting Abts-Olsen on his “keen detection skills” and admits that snorting cocaine during a traffic stop was not a good decision.
Cruiser dashcam footage shows officer Nic Abts-Olsen stopping the unidentified man’s silver Toyota because its headlights are off.
The cops continue to be disbelieving that the man would even attempt to try this and after a brief chat at the station the police report records that the man admitted to the foolish deed.
Instead of getting let off with a warning, the man was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for possession of narcotics.
And the whole incident was caught on camera. But the cocaine changed the complexion of things, police said. The officer can be heard asking the man what was in his hand and he asked him if he was about to snort coke right there on the side of the road. Initially the driver told the officer that it wasn’t cocaine and it was vitamins.
In the video, Officer Nic Abts-Olsen asked the driver for his licence and registration, and walked back to his cruiser.
The man politely reminds the officer he has never had a traffic violation before, to which the cop replies: “I just saw that!”
Seattle police released the video on its YouTube channel, taking a holiday-themed PSA approach with text slates that included reminders. such as “Please abstain from using cocaine, especially during a traffic stop”.
“Are you kidding”, the officer asked the man, who tried to brush off the white powder that had spilled all over his hands and floor of his vehicle.
