Does ‘Ant-Man’ director want to do sequel?
And that makes us feel pretty good.
Marvel’s usual sense of humour is also in fine form, but again taking a different approach. The narrative is altered a bit from the comics, and by no means do you have to have seen any other film to understand this one.
“Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, an expert hacker recruited by Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) to battle his enemy using a super-powered suit that allows him to shrink down to an ant’s size. Cross is now in charge of Pym’s company and has worked to develop the technology with an eye toward selling it to the highest bidder, a.k.a., HYDRA.
The antagonist in the movie is another scientist known as Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) who worked with Pym in the past and started his own work to replicate the Pym Particle who later created Yellow Jacket.
Reed came onboard when Wright left the project as director in May 2014.
Naturally, he was happy to see the script was heavy on humour.
With so much going on, I noted in my interview with Lang’s crew (the “Antourage”) that sometimes it’s the supporting characters that make a film, and we have that happening right here.
With Marvel’s Ant-Man now in theaters, it’s time for the real Ant-Man toys to be announced.
Ant-Man brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time.
The best thing about “Ant-Man” is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously, poking fun at itself every now and then with jokes that will cause the adults in the audience to chuckle.
But he and McKay were able to make changes. Judging by that juicy second end credits scene, Scott may be the perfect guy on the fringe that Falcon and Captain America need if they go to … war.
Pena is a standout as the hilarious sidekick.
His character is cat burglar Scott Lang, who is released from San Quentin Penitentiary and resolves to go straight for the sake of his daughter Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson).
Meanwhile, Lilly “was invaluable in helping shape the story arc for her character”, said Reed. Wasp is such an important character in the whole mythology of Ant-Man, whether it’s the original Janet van Dyne or the Hope version of Wasp. He got cast as a grizzled action hero, a suave criminal, an honest salaryman desperately trying to keep his job, a male sex symbol… and in each of those categories managed to appear in at least a few memorable films. Euro associate H’erica Thompson was present at the red carpet premiere of “Ant-Man” to get some highlights.
I think we would be foolhardy to have shot a thing where Evangeline Lilly is looking at that amazing suit and never give the audience a chance to see her in that suit. “There’s a lot of story left to tell”.
