Coldplay will headline Super Bowl 50 halftime show

Coldplay is headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, and a spokesman for the National Football League hinted that past halftime performers could join the band onstage.
Chris Martin is definitely excited and a bit nervous about the prospect of performing at the Super Bowl.
Coldplay is one of the world’s most popular musical acts, selling more than 80 million copies of their six number one albums and garnering eight BRITs.
Wait, you say! The NFL would never go for metal no matter where the Super Bowl is taking place. Other videos will focus on special guest performers who have yet to be announced, Semiao said.
Coldplay’s reception might have been warmer this time around because the band, which apparently continues to record music, has an album (our pals at Chicagoist mull it here) that’s dropping today. Last year, the Super Bowl halftime performance was headlined by pop star Katy Perry.
They revealed the news on Twitter, saying the show would reflect the past, present and the next 50 years ahead.
The Wall Street Journal reports Beyonce is “in talks” to make an appearance during Coldplay’s performance as well. Notably, Metallica headlines the third annual “CBS Radio’s The Night Before” on Super Bowl eve at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
