Titans beat Jaguars in a wild one
The Titans’ win snaps an 11-game home losing streak and improves their record to 3-9.
In the fourth quarter, Mariota ripped off an 87-yard touchdown to give the Titans a lead. Blake Bortles threw for 332 yards and five touchdowns. Either way, the game ended and the Jaguars fell to 4-8. Running back T.J. Yeldin collected it and ran 67 yards to the Titans 7 yard-line to set up Allen Robinson’s third touchdown catch. Mariota completed 20-of-29 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns in the contest. He rushed 112 yards and one TD on nine carries.
With four more games to go, it’ll be tough for Bortles to also break the single-season yardage record, which is 4,367 yards and was set by Brunell in 1996. The Titans extended the lead to 28-19 on the first play of the fourth quarter when Green-Beckham caught a Mariota pass, escaped would-be tacklers, and then sprinted 47 yards into the end zone. Bad tackling allowed Tennessee to get to the one-yard line with just 3 seconds to play.
Tennessee went 90 yards in 10 plays.
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham (17) gets past… The two-point try failed. The Titans and Jags met up for a high-scoring AFC South affair that saw the division’s bottom two squads account for over 80 points and more than 800 yards.
By deferring to the second half after winning coin toss, the Titans did steal an extra possession but the Jaguars stopped them to open the third quarter and forced a punt.
