Police In London Say They Are Treating Tube Stabbing As ‘Terrorist Incident’
A man wielding a knife stabbed three people before reportedly saying “This is for Syria” during the attack at the east London station on Saturday night.
The British police said the attack, which left one man seriously injured and another with minor injuries, has been classified as a terrorism incident.
Police had taken the suspect to the London police station.
Britain’s national terror threat level was raised in August 2014 to severe, the second-highest of five levels, meaning an attack is considered highly likely.
Officers discharged TASERs at the 29-year-old man who was then restrained and arrested (under PACE) for attempted murder at 19:14 hrs.

The suspect is in custody Sunday, while police investigate the attack as a “terrorist incident”.
Police were able to subdue and arrest the attacker, who was brought to a London police station for questioning. Police were search a home in East London in connection with the stabbings. Officers shout “Drop the knife!” and fire Taser electric stun guns.
He then allegedly walked back over to the stricken man, pulled out his knife and stabbed him in a sawing motion, Mr Patel said. Witnesses described how the attacker punched and kicked the man as they both walked up the stairs at the station before cutting at his throat.
British lawmakers approved the bombing of Islamic State targets in Syria on Wednesday. The man taking the video shouted: “You ain’t no Muslim bruv”. I think the victim was unconscious, he passed out. Then the guy (attacker) was down on the floor and police were on him.
“We are treating this as a terrorist incident”.
Anyone who has video of the incident is asked to contact the police. Two other victims sustained minor wounds.
“Basically the scene I walked into was the guy lying on the floor, blood everywhere, and [there was] this guy shouting and that’s when I tried to get everyone out of the station”.
The following video, uploaded a few hours after the attack, shows the suspect being confronted by police officers. None of those were thought to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Leytonstone underground station earlier this evening at around 7 PM who saw anything suspicious to call the anti-terror hotline”, he said yesterday.
