Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘Harry Potter’ Audition Tape Will Warm Your Hearts
Last month, Radcliffe opened up about his problems with drinking after the Harry Potter films ended in 2011.
So, to make the start of this weekend a little brighter, the internet has unearthed the ultimate throwback – a video of Daniel Radcliffe screen-testing for his eponymous role as the Boy Wizard.
“The moment he walked into the room we knew we’d found Harry”, director Chris Columbus once told CNN. Now, in recently revived footage of Radcliffe’s audition, we can all see why Radcliffe was chosen to play the part.
Radcliffe was just 11 years old at the time of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone release.
The first scene used in the audition reel is where Hagrid shows Harry, Ron and Hermione the dragon egg he’s acquired from someone down at the pub.
Later, we get to see his darker side, when the Potter character talks about living without his parents.
Harry Potter books and movies series have given many of us an enthralling and magical childhood.
“I’m getting asked a lot, ‘Would you play him?'” Radcliffe said while promoting his latest film.
