Ryan Gosling Can’t Keep a Straight Face in This SNL Sketch
The funniest part of the night was a video which didn’t include Gosling at all, a fake Nespresso commercial parodying George Clooney and Danny Devito.
Ryan Gosling hosted Saturday Night Live on Saturday, Dec. 5, and the actor could hardly keep a straight face through most of his live sketches.
“It brings back all these great memories of growing up as a kid”, he said of the big apple, before an “audience member” pointed out that the 35-year-old actor grew up in Cornwall, Ontario.
“What floor were you guys on?” she wanted to know. Gosling joined SNL cast members Leslie Jones (playing The Wiz), Kenan Thompson (Cowardly Lion), Michael Che (The Wiz’s Scarecrow), Jay Pharoah (Tin Man), and Sasheer Zapata (Dorothy) in a skit that found The Wizard of Oz’s Scarecrow showing up in East Oz where he encounters The Wiz’ versions of the classic characters.
The actors pointed out highlights of their country including, there hot new prime minister, Degrassi Junior High and Justin Bieber.
The one-time Mousketeer surpassed expectations as an amiable host, especially because his guffaws are totally adorable.
And when SNL’s Cecily Strong interrupted to point out that Gosling actually hails from Cornwall, Ont., the acclaimed film star hesitantly suggested that it might not be the best time to talk about being an immigrant in the United States.
The sketch, concerning a trio of people discussing recent alien abductions to government representatives, cracked up Gosling when Kate McKinnon’s stories of abduction got more and more outlandish as they went on.
So overall, Gosling’s hosting was a success. Watching him awkwardly deny Bryant’s sexual advances is pretty hilarious.
