LSU Tigers to face off against Texas Tech in Texas Bowl
No. 20 LSU will face Texas Tech in the 10th-annual AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl on December 29, it was announced Sunday afternoon.
The game will be aired on ESPN. Riding a two-game win streak, Texas Tech improved from a 4-8 record in 2014 to a 7-5 slate in 2015. The payout for the game is $3 million for each university. Texas Tech has already fired their co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach, cornerbacks coach, and outside linebackers coach.
The group consists of the Music, Texas, Belk, TaxSlayer, Outback, and Liberty Bowls with no pecking order.
The Texas bowl will be a rematch 58 years in the making as the programs last faced one another way back on October 5, 1954; LSU paid a visit to Lubbock and edged out the Red Raiders in a close 19-14 victory. “It’s a major city and a great place for us”.
The game will be played in NRG Stadium, home of the NFL’s Houston Texans.
LSU coach Les Miles could not have picked a better opponent to tweak his offense against than Texas Tech.
Texas Tech has 15 student-athletes on its roster who are Houston area natives.
Miles also reiterated what has been reported by Gannett Louisiana numerous times – he does not call the plays.
LSU and Texas Tech first played against each other in football in 1957.
LSU is No. 25 in the nation in total defense with 342.5 yards allowed a game, but is 46 against the pass with 211 yards allowed a game.
