Florida in the Citrus Bowl
New Years Day battle between first-year coaches Michigans Jim Harbaugh and the Gators Jim McElwain will be a compelling bowl game between two of the top name programs in the country.
The Citrus Bowl matchup between No. 19 Florida and No. 17 MI has the billboard appeal of two college football bluebloods.
It was just announced that the Michigan Wolverines of the Big Ten would be facing off against the Florida Gators of the SEC.
The Gators, led by first-year head coach Jim McElwain, won the SEC Eastern Division championship and played No. 2 Alabama in the SEC Championship Game yesterday (Saturday, Sept. 5), falling, 29-15, to the Crimson Tide.
As bowl game arrangements pour in today, MI fans can rest easy. “I think we’re going to do a fantastic job”.
Nussmeier’s team isn’t doing much better in Florida, as the Gators have scored only one offensive touchdown combined in the past two weeks. Both coaches led their respective teams to turnaround seasons in their first year, as the Gators posted an 11-13 record over their past two seasons and the Wolverines finished with a 5-7 record last season. “Because Florida, say what you want, they’ve got guys on defense”. Winless in three games against teams from the Great Lake State, losing to Michigan State in 2000 (Citrus Bowl) and to Michigan in 2003 (Outback Bowl) and 2008 (Capital One Bowl).
Tickets for the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl start at $70.
Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl tickets will be sold at four price points.
