You ain’t no Muslim
The hashtag was first used shortly after the attack on Saturday and has since gone global.
“Some Twitter users quoted Islamic scripture to contradict militant Islamists who try to use Islam to justify attacks on unarmed civilians and to recruit followers in the West and Middle East. “#YouAintNoMuslimBruv, just another psychopath attempting to use religion as an excuse to justify your barbaric actions!!” said one Twitter user, Natasha.
The suspect, identified as Muhaydin Mire, 29, appeared in court Monday on charges of attempted murder. The victim has requested anonymity. It was raised in August 2014 to severe, the second highest of five levels, meaning an attack is considered highly likely. The suspect will appear at the Old Bailey on Friday. Police have declined to comment about these reports but have come out and said that this will be treated as a “terrorist incident” in a statement by Richard Walton, leader of the Counter Terrorism Command at London’s Metropolitan Police Department. It is then that an unidentified bystander can be heard shouting: “You ain’t no Muslim bruv”.
“Some of us have dedicated speeches and media appearances and soundbites and everything to this subject”.
The hashtag #YouAintNoMuslimBruv has been trending since the attack as the footage spread online.
He added: “Thank you, because that will be applauded around the country”.
Wait. Hold the phone. He is even reported to have said, “This is what happens when you f*** with mother Syria”.
Alistair Leadbetter wrote: “Now David “Dave” Cameron has seriously said “You ain’t no muslim bruv” he has managed to rob it off all power and relevance”.
And incredibly, at least one person saw this coming. James Bamborough tweeted last night: “David Cameron is DEFINITELY going to say you aint no muslim bruv at some point putting on an urban accent”.
