Drum kit Ringo Starr used in Beatles hits sells for $2.2M

Ringo Starr’s Beatles drum kit has sold for a staggering $2.1 million (£1.4 million) at auction.

“Finally, after 45 years, the Beatles are together again”, he said.

Meanwhile, Irsay soon could be giving his head coach and/or G.M. the Pete Best treatment.

“Can’t By Me Love”, “From Me to You”, and “I Want to Hold Your Hand” are some of the hits Starr played while manning this set, having taken possession of it on May 12, 1963. Starr’s copy of the “White Album” sold for $790, 000 at Julien’s Live auction, according to Rolling Stone on Saturday. Multi-millionaire Indianapolis Colts NFL owner Jim Irsay, 56, shelled out for the three-piece instrument at a fundraiser in LA.

Ringo Starr has auctioned off the first ever copy of the The Beatles self-titled 1968 album, with the item selling for $910,000 (£600,000) at auction. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the couple’s Lotus Children Foundation that focuses on social welfare issues around the world.
