Israeli soldier stabbed in Hebron, attackers killed: army
Numerous attackers have been shot dead by their victims or security forces. “In response to the threat, forces fired at the attackers, resulting in their death”.
At least 113 Palestinians have been killed since 1 October, many of them suspected of attacking Israelis.
Later Friday afternoon, an Israeli girl was lightly wounded when the vehicle she was traveling in was pelted by rocks thrown by Palestinian near Neve Tsuf, a settlement north of Ramallah in the West Bank.
A violent wave of tension and confrontations between Israel and the Palestinians that broke out in early October has left 114 Palestinians killed by Israeli security forces gunfire, including 18 young men in the Gaza Strip.
To crack down on unrest, Israel last month resumed demolishing homes of Palestinians accused of attacking Israelis.
Israeli police recently arrested members of a Jewish extremist group suspected of fire-bombing a Palestinian house in a summer attack that killed a toddler and his parents, authorities said.
Two Palestinians were shot dead in a single incident after they stabbed a soldier in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, the Israeli military said. Many of the Palestinian attackers in the past months of bloodshed have been from Hebron.
In Friday’s assaults, three Palestinians stabbed Israeli soldiers in two separate incidents and later, a Palestinian rammed his vehicle into troops at an army post in the West Bank, wounding two soldiers before he was shot and killed by other troops at the scene.
Details on the arson case have been kept under wraps by Israel, drawing Palestinian allegations of foot-dragging, while lawyers for the suspects said their clients were pressured by interrogators to confess.
The Israeli army summoned ‘Arabiya’s father and brother for interrogation in Ma’ale Adumim settlement, and held them for several hours, in an attempt to get them to reveal the location where the family took ‘Arabiya’s body. Two Palestinian assailants were shot dead.
The attacks led to widespread condemnation globally as well as by Israelis and Palestinians, but as yet no one has been charged for the killings.
Two Palestinians were wounded near Israel’s heavily guarded border with the enclave, Palestinian health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra told AFP. Discouragement rooted in decades of Israeli occupation has been attributed by the Palestinian leaders.
