Cardinals-Eagles shifted to prime time under flex scheduling
Arizona Cardinals free safety Rashad Johnson (26) and Deone Bucannon (36) celebrate their win after an NFL football game as Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz (86) looks on, Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, in Glendale, Ariz.
The NFL announced Monday that the Eagles week 15 game against the NFC-West leading Arizona Cardinals, Dec. 20, at Lincoln Financial Field has been flexed from a 1 p.m. start to 8:30 and will be the Sunday Night Football game. The original SNF game was supposed to be Bengals-49ers. “The NBC Sunday night time slot for “flex” weeks lists the game tentatively scheduled for Sunday night”. The Bengals-49ers game will now kickoff at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
The league consults with networks and often moves games around to ensure the most important matchups are shown in primetime.
Before this season, the Cardinals had appeared on the current NBC “Sunday Night Football” incarnation four times.
The Cardinals are undefeated on prime time this season, going 3-0 thus far. The Cardinals split with the Colts and Giants, and beat the Vikings in the one other time they had been “flexed” into an appearance.
