The Process is tested in Philadelphia
The Spurs rested Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan, while Kawhi Leonard missed the game with an illness.
San Antonio Spurs’ LaMarcus Aldridge reacts to his basket during the first half of an NBA basketball game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, in Philadelphia. However, when that game is against the lowly Philadelphia 76ers, then it seems like a smart decision. He began the night averaging 1.8 points a game, with a previous high of six.Aldridge, who made 11 of 15 shots from the floor, also grabbed nine rebounds.
Robert Covington and Nerlens Noel each led the Sixers with 13 points apiece, RoCo on 5-8 shooting and Nerlens on 6-9 shooting (nice).
The Sixers have a three-play package for late-game situations. Colangelo, 76, is the chairman of the board of directors for USA Basketball, having previously served as that organization’s managing director, beginning in 2005. “I’m going to push this game aside and really that’s all I think I have to say about this game”. The Spurs are allowing 29 percent shooting from deep in their last five games and have won 10 of their last 11 when allowing less than 100 points.
It was an ugly loss much like plenty of the other ugly blowout losses the Sixers have faced at the hands of strong Western Conference teams in the Sam Hinkie/Brett Brown era.
“You see at the end of games when people can’t create their own shot and get to the rim by themselves, he can”, coach Brett Brown said. “The talent’s just not there to get down like that and get back”.
The Silver and Black led Boston by 15 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Celtics went on a 14-1 run midway through the period to pull within two points (95-93) with 3:16 left. The Sixers scored only 12 points in the second quarter and broke the 20-point mark in the third (23). Despite missing so many key players the Spurs took care of business against a struggling 76ers team on the road. Parker and the Spurs did a terrific job in containing Isaiah Canaan and T.J.
Jahlil Okafor (upper respiratory infection) did not practice on Sunday and is considered questionable to play vs. the Spurs on Monday.
“In this league, you can’t have just young guys”.
Rookie center Boban Marjanovic looked like a season veteran on Monday night. The 22-year-old guard scored four points in 13 minutes off the bench and will work his way back into big minutes slowly.
