Otherside teases System Shock 3
An actual game may be some ways off just yet.
Otherside Entertainment has updated its website on what appears to be a tease of System Shock 3.
This is all started getting steam on Monday when Otherside posted a cryptic teaser page and countdown.
The previously-announced remake of System Shock won’t be the last hurrah for the iconic sci-fi RPG. Levine is at Take Two, Spector works in education and Church is at Valve doing who knows what.
It was developed by Irrational Games and Looking Glass Studios, with Ken Levine as one of the directors.
As we, and many others, predicted in mid-November, System Shock 3 is indeed real.
For our first title we’re bringing back the classic Ultima™ Underworld franchise, which we’re calling Underworld Ascendant™.
Underworld Ascendant was crowdfunded on Kickstarter – making a similar method likely for the new System Shock.
Well, now that sequel is a reality, thanks to Otherside Entertainment.
There is not much more to go on, but it is expected that we will hear more about the game on December 14th, so mark it in your calendar.
However, as we’re seeing more and more often, there are no impossible projects in the world of video games – so long as there’s a paying audience waiting in the wings.
Better yet, some of the developers there even worked on the original System Shock, so it should have a number of ingredients that will fit with a new entry in the series. On top of that, Otherside Entertainment is an extremely young company – according to their website, System Shock 3 will be their first major project.
