Mixed response to Trump’s Muslim comment
According to Pew Research Center estimates, 10% of the population of Europe will be Muslim by 2050. He didn’t include specifics, so it’s not clear what the data there really show.
“Theresa May has excluded extreme Islamists on these grounds, and also kept out those who have fanned extreme anti-Muslim prejudice, such as the bloggers Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer”.
Mr Rhodes added that Mr Trump’s plan, if acted upon, would also call into question the United States’ ability to work with Muslim communities to counter radicalisation.
At his rally, Trump then went on to highlight another poll.
Democratic presidential contender Martin O Malley said Trump s incendiary comment “removes all doubt: he is running for president as a fascist demagogue”. Its methodology is questionable – polling online – and its questions in many cases are leading.
Din Syamsuddin, chief of Indonesia’s Muhammadiyah, the second-largest Muslim organisation in the country, said Trump’s comments were a joke. All he is saying is don’t let anything else in right now and fix the problem before we do. “While the USCMO seeks to cloak itself in red, white, and blue, it is only for the goal of accomplishing what can aptly be described as ‘Star Spangled Shariah'”.
His appearance was interrupted by protesters several times, including when he was explaining his latest proposal on keeping Muslims from entering the country.
“We can not turn against one another by letting this fight be defined as a war between America and Islam”.
Reaction from other GOP presidential hopefuls came quickly.
“It’s entirely inconsistent with the kinds of values that were central to the founding of this country”, Mr Earnest said. We are either a party of protecting the constitution and religious liberties or we’re not.
Pennington and his three friends had read about Trump’s proposal while they were waiting to pass through security. “It is unconstitutional. And it is un-American”, while SC chairman Matt Moore said on Twitter, “As a conservative who truly cares about religious liberty, Donald Trump’s bad idea and rhetoric send a shiver down my spine”. Ted Cruz said simply, “That is not my policy”. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush tweeted, “Donald Trump is unhinged”. Democrats are unconstitutionally pushing for gun control, he said, but Trump shouldn’t infringe on the right to practice religion.
Chris Christie said Trump has no idea what he’s talking about.
On Wednesday, Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said Trump’s proposed ban would apply to “everybody”, including Muslims seeking immigration visas as well as tourists seeking to enter the country.
“So why should we not condemn an American if he says that?”
The chairs of the state Republican parties in the early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire and SC all pushed back on Trump’s proposal.
The Trump campaign didn’t respond to News Channel 8’s requests for a statement. “Man, there’s anger, and we have to know about it”, said Trump.
“Why is it that when there are insane people who happen to be Muslim, they blame all Muslims?”
Ladies and gentlemen, Donald Trump.
Jonathan A. Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, called Trump’s plan “deeply offensive”.
“Now I have kids, I do, I get afraid”, she told AFP.
He said: There is a crisis of confidence in America to a make sure we can keep this country safe and this would allow the United States to stop, take a break, have a look and make sure everything is cool. Trump asked, invoking his slogan.
“We don’t want that”.
