Ethan Hawke joins Luc Besson’s ‘Valerian’
John Goodman has reportedly joined the cast of Luc Besson’s new film “Valerian and The City of A Thousand Planets”. I want to work with for years (sic)! Valerian is being produced by Besson’s EuropaCorp and will be released on July 21, 2017. “We gonna have fun!!!”
The French comic is from Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières, and ran from 1967 to 2010, and follows two heroes, Valérian and Laureline, spatio-temporal agents who protect their 28th century utopian existence.
Goodman joins a star-studded cast which now includes Rihanna, Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen, Dane DeHaan and Ethan Hawke. Under directive from their Commander (Clive Owen), Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the universe.
It is rumoured the movie will contain very few human characters and will instead focus on extraterrestrials and odd worlds. In fact, “Besson has 2,370 planned”. DeHaan and Delevingne are set to play the leads, while Besson’s Instagram post didn’t specify the role that Hawke would be filling in the story.
It will be interesting to see what direction Besson takes Valerian, as the series it is based on ran for over 40 years and has a lot to draw on. Tell us in the comments section below!
