Teen choked teacher until he blacked out, police say: Student’s brother
A teacher is recovering after he was attacked and punched in the face by two teenagers at a Philadelphia high school Monday morning, according to investigators.
The injured teacher was hospitalized following the incident with what the attorney’s office describe as a traumatic brain injury.
The teens are facing aggravated assault charges.
According to the criminal complaint, a fight broke out in the cafeteria between the two boys and staff attempted to intervene.
“Lots of the students these days tend to lose touch with the application of the knowledge in the science area… they tend to regurgitate [information], they tend to study for the sake of the test, and I just thought ‘well, that will be boring!'” Oo tells Australian Teacher Magazine . The 9th grade student as well as a 10th grade student then confronted the teacher and tried to get the phone back, officials said.
A former Bowie High School health teacher and coach has been charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a female student that started during the suspect’s time at the school and continued after she resigned from her position. At the time both the teacher and student denied an inappropriate relationship had taken place. Police told the student he was under arrest – and he responded with laughter, according to the complaint.
The 16-year-old was charged with felony third Degree Assault.
The incident is the latest in a string of violent assaults against teachers in St. Paul schools.
“We as a school district take the precautions that we can and we do the discipline, such as suspension or ultimately expulsion”, Silva said.
