Samsung rolls out Gear S2 update with new features, faces, improvements
As yet Samsung have not given any specific details on exactly when in 2016 their Gear S2 smartwatch will be getting their new mobile payment system, as soon as we get some more details, we will let you guys know.
The Gear S2, unlike Samsung’s latest smartphones, features no MST, which is the technology that differentiates Samsung Pay from other services such as Android Pay and Apple Pay.
Overseas models of the Gear S2 are sold with a 3G eSIM that works in the 850, 900, 1900 and 2100MHz bands, so it should be usable in New Zealand too. Samsung has been known to push the envelope with its devices, and it has done so with the Samsung Gear S2.
This smartwatch looks pretty good with the round design bringing plenty of style and non-tech appeal. Tech rivals, Samsung and Apple, have worked on the concept of pairing off their smartwatches with their devices.
Battery life was really good – I got more than two days’ use from the Gear S2, which charges wirelessly via a cradle that connects to a power source with a USB cable.
Having had the Gear S2 strapped to our wrists there’s plenty to be excited about. It has a functioning rotating front bezel, that is running on Samsung’s Tizen software. Samsung also includes a sunlight sensor just under the screen. Creators emphasize that the upcoming TV show is not an interactive video game or multiple-choice adventure. Samsung Internet for Android supports voice recognition and comes with an on-screen keyboard.
The app allows users to check email and social media news feeds and read online articles and also supports 360-degree and 3D video streaming, as well as HTML5 videos.
So do these new features make this a must-have smartwatch? Samsung Gear VR headset holds “Gone” exclusively, as Samsung developed the app at the same time the series was being shot by Wevr and Skybound.
