Speaker Ryan Blasts Trump’s Muslim Ban & Adds Comment Trump Fans Really Won’t
Commenting on Donald Trump’s call yesterday for a ban on all Muslims entering the United States, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said those comments disqualify him from being president, and struck a strong tone attacking GOP racism, the GOP frontrunner, and those who support him.
“It’s all part of a negotiation”.
Donald Trump’s comments about London are “nonsense”, the city’s mayor said Tuesday, inviting the U.S. Republican presidential hopeful to come and see for himself. The latest Public Policy Polling survey in North Carolina shows Trump convincingly ahead of the rest of the Republican pack at 33 percent, twice the support of the nearest rival, Ted Cruz, who is polling at 16 percent.
Earlier Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s spokesman said the United Nations chief also strongly opposes Trump’s call.
But London Mayor Boris Johnson, a Conservative, said Trump’s “ill-informed comments are complete and utter nonsense”. And any Republican who’s too fearful of the Republican base to admit it has no business serving as president either. “Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the unsafe threat it poses, our country can not be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life”, he continued.
In his interview on ABC News, Trump explained that his proposal is no different than “FDR’s solution for Germans, Italians, Japanese many years ago” during WWII.
Ryan, the GOP’s 2012 vice presidential nominee, dismissed a question about whether Trump’s comments might cause lasting damage for the GOP.
Just hours before Kriseman’s tweet, it was another Donald Trump speech heard around the world.
Earnest said it would be more effective for USA authorities to “work in partnership” with the Muslim community to combat terrorism and that Trump’s “offensive bluster” makes it “much harder to build and solidify that relationship”. “At a time when America should be doing everything we can to fight radical jihadists, Mr. Trump is supplying them with new propaganda”.
Earnest was asked how he knew Trump’s hair was fake and said that he was willing to be fact-checked.
Trump’s proposal has also drawn criticism from legal experts who challenge its constitutionality and feasibility. “And we don’t want to have another World Trade Center”, he said.
