Is Drake’s Label to Blame for Grammys “Hotline Bling” Snub?
This morning, Drake collected five Grammy nominations for tracks like “Energy” and “Back to Back” but, surprisingly, not for the single with a chokehold on the zeitgeist: “Hotline Bling”.
But there was one song – his biggest, in a year full of hits, and MTV News’ best of 2015 – that was conspicuously left off: “Hotline Bling”. The site reports: “It’s worth noting that Drake’s massive “Hotline Bling” was not submitted, due to a clerical error on the part of label Cash Money”.
Ever since Lil Wayne had a fallout with his boss and surrogate father Birdman, it can be perceived as Drake being involved in a cold war between the label as he has been riding with the Louisiana rapper nonstop. “That huge hit might well have been a multiple-category contender but for this goof”. “Like, I’m trying. I’m really trying to make music for your life”.
Drake responded with two diss songs, “Charged Up” and “Back to Back”, while Mill fired back with “Wanna Know”.
And as expected, Hip Hop social media is now mocking Meek Mill for it.
Turns out Drake is capping off an impressive year with a Grammy nomination for the single in the category Best Rap Performance.
Meek Mill is having a miserable holiday season because Drake just get nominated for a Grammy for “Back To Back”. The 2016 Grammys will be taking place on 15 February at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
