With an overall 760-441 (63% correct) record thus far since our launch, let’s get into how I see the action inside the cage going down from San Jose.

Even though this week feels like All-Star Weekend for the UFC and the vast majority of fight fans have been counting down the hours for this stretch of days to arrive, there are bound to still be some folks that aren’t sold on Thursday’s Fight Pass card because, well, it’s a Fight Pass card and those events carry stigma. Jacare Souza, Yoel Romero, Tecia Torres, Damien Maia, Max Holloway are all also on the card.
Starting off this weekends three day “MMArathon” is UFC Fight Night: Paige VanZant vs. Rose Namajunas, in Las Vegas, Thursday 10th.
Cody Pfister was written off by most as soon as it was announced who he’d be fighting this week.
It wouldn’t be at all surprising if this fight gets everyone buzzing as heading into a jam-packed weekend of action inside the Octagon.
Despite the long odds against him in the lightweight fight, Pfister, who is 8-1-1 in his past 10 fights, thinks he’ll be able to find some success against his fellow Texan at UFC Fight Night 80, which takes place at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The Pfist has garnered attention recently by making pointed accusations at Northcutt involving performance enhancing drugs. I came out of Nick’s Fight Club, which is a great gym, but you know, we just didn’t have all the bodies there.
“That’s amusing, and I just want to tell my opponent thank you for saying that, because that’s a huge compliment to me”, Northcutt said.
That fight sees two scrappy fighters in a battle of pressure.
“He presents a unique and explosive set of challenges, and I very much look forward to rising up and meeting that challenge head on”, he said. “I think that says something”. I’m not looking to be his friend.
Charismatic and engaging, he has the personality and look to be a bankable star for the promotion; now it’s just a matter of finding out if he’s got the skill to carry him into the Top 15.
