Splash Brothers’ 68 points see Warriors hit 23-0 in Oakland
Curry’s fantastic play has led his Golden State Warriors to an National Basketball Association record 22 wins to start the season.
Thompson has “struggled” in the first quarter of the season, averaging around 18 points but not shooting the deep ball as well as usual, but without harm to the team thanks to the exploits of Steph Curry.
They spent the last 12 minutes Tuesday trying to protect their flawless quest. Miles is second on the team in PER (17.2) and points per game (15.6) and his 44 percent three point shooting clip has had people calling him and George “Splash Brothers East” which is a reference to Curry and Klay Thompson who are referred to as the “Splash Brothers”. The 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers won 33 consecutive regular-season games.
Demand for tickets to Golden State Warriors games league-wide has gone up in lockstep with the notches in the team’s win column.
In Memphis, Kevin Durant had 32 points and 10 rebounds for Oklahoma City, and Russell Westbrook added 13 points while matching his season high with 16 assists.
Lewis is a former Sonic. Curry scored 16 of his 28 points in the third quarter to lead the Warriors.
They were led by Klay Thompson with 39 points, but he sprained his ankle late, and while X-rays were negative he could miss a couple of games. The Celtics get their turn in the tank next, Friday night in Boston. “But definitely want to feed the hot hand in those situations and try to get him as clean a look as I can”.
“I think there’s a lot of people that would like to have these tickets tonight and I was fortunate enough to have them”, said fan Steven Hedges as he held his pair of tickets. “I felt like I was due for a game like that”.
Many were projecting this as the first potential speed bump on the Warriors road as the Indiana Pacers had been playing with clout and Paul George was looking like the Most Valuable Player not Named Stephen Curry.
And so it goes, the Warriors pushing their streak to 23, the Pacers failing to answer the league’s prevailing, plaintive question (“Can someone, anyone, stop these guys?!”).
Warriors: Golden State has shot 45 percent or better 20 times this season….
The Warriors’ showdown with the Indiana Pacers, one of the best teams in the East, began as a beat down and ended up being too close for comfort. It’s hard to fault the short-handed reserves for almost giving up the lead against the Pacers’ starters, but the scare puts a dent in the Warriors’ sense of indestructibility. He should have no trouble scoring 25-plus points in this one and will see plenty of rebounding opportunities, as well. They need just five more wins to get to their Christmas Day Finals rematch with the Cavaliers undefeated. Golden State is capable of putting big points on the board, and the pace at which it plays is what renders this over/under so high.
This time, it was largely because of Thompson who was 8 of 10 on 3-pointers in the first half. Interim coach Luke Walton said the team would know more in the morning after further evaluation.
The Warriors’ ball movement was a thing of beauty in the first half (19 assists), but suffered in the second (10 assists).
The overtime started well for the Pacers as George reached 48 points for the night on a deep three to give the Pacers a quick three point lead, however, Lavoy Allen was called for his sixth foul early in the overtime.
