Chloe Grace Moretz to train underwater ‘Little Mermaid’ movie
It is very modern indeed since the actress revealed that the film will not be following the classic red-headed Ariel.
“I remember when I got the call I rolled all my windows down in the vehicle with my brother and we both screamed, we’re like ‘We’re the mermaid!'” she recalls. But it is reportedly still without a director at its helm: Sofia Coppola left the project, as of last summer.
However, she explained that she first needs to undergo underwater training in preparation for the film. She’s got “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” and another horror movie, “The 5 Wave” coming in the next few months. I’m excited, I’m nervous. “Underwater training? This is no joke!”
For the 1989 animation, Disney opted for a happier ending instead of Hans Christian Anderson’s original, darker version.
The new Princess Ariel is going to be a blonde. Chloë just opened up to Entertainment Tonight about her new role, and she said she’s staying blonde. The movie might have drastic differences from the animated version many loved.
Screenwriter Richard Curtis is polishing The Little Mermaid script, which has already been worked on by Caroline Thompson, Kelly Marcel and Abi Morgan.
Do you think this live-action revision will really be better than the previous Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” animation movies?
Although “The Little Mermaid” doesn’t have a release date yet, fans can still watch Chloe Grace Moretz on screen. Some of the guesses for Prince Eric’s role include Zac Efron, Ansel Elgort, Liam Hemsworth, Nicholas Hoult, Taylor Lautner, and even Harry Syles. But, it could also mean that modern ideals will color a story set in the time period of the Andersen yarn.
