Mark Ingram placed on IR with shoulder injury, reports say
Ingram’s injury is a huge blow to the Saints backfield, and at 4-8, the Saints’ playoffs hopes are slim.
Rand Getlin, with the NFL Network, tweeted a report Wednesday about Saints running back Mark Ingram and an injury.
Initial fears have been realized, as tests on Ingram’s shoulder will end his season prematurely. He played in all 16 regular-season games in 2012, but was limited to 10 games in 2011, 11 in 2013 and 13 in 2014.
“Saints running back Mark Ingram is dealing with a serious shoulder injury”.
Ingram has 50 receptions for 405.
He had 56 rushing yards and 23 receiving yards in Sunday’s game against the Panthers.
If Ingram is unable to play, it’s likely that C.J. Spiller and Tim Hightower will see a higher dose of snaps. The 26-year-old has rushed for 769 yards in 12 games and looked poised to gain 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career. Mark Ingram now joins a handful of players on the team’s injured reserve, including star cornerback Keenan Lewis, running back Khiry Robinson, and 2015 third-round pick cornerback P.J.
