Arrow vs. Batman, Amell vs. Affleck — who would win?
Oliver successfully dodged them all, but Felicity was not so lucky, and so while Damien went home to his wife and daughter(?!?!), Oliver held a bleeding Felicity in his arms, and a preview tried to make us think Felicity really did bite the dust with help from Oliver’s little speech from the grave flash forward in the premiere.
Oliver is holding a clean-up at the bay as a part of his mayoral campaign. Its been hard not to wonder whether Felicity Smoak is going to be the next Gwen Stacy or Rachel Dawes, doomed to die for the development of the superhero in her life.
In a flashback, Oliver and the woman he saved are pushing on through the island and he convinces her to keep moving, using her brother as motivation. The Green Arrow also learns Darhk’s plan: to unleash an airborne virus known as “the bloom”, because, in his words, “humanity needs a reset”. Oliver turns to Felicity and gets down one knee and proposes.
There’s another thing, of course: In the funeral scene, we see that Oliver is alone when Barry comes to see him. Felicity dying from her injuries sustained in Dark Waters wouldnt mean that anybody else is safe. Oliver celebrated it by proposing to Felicity, but their happiness was cut short when Damien sent his henchmen to take care of Oliver. But during a recent panel, the actor took things a step further and said that the Green Arrow would beat Batman in a fight! She says that he should never worry about her because he’s not responsible for anything that happens to her. She’s a big girl and she does what she wants.
Oliver turns to Felicity and says that she’s stood beside him when times were darkest and is the one who lights his way. He locks Felicity, Diggle and Thea inside the chamber and begins to flood it with the deadly gas. These sort of twists ideally prove that this show won’t just rest on its laurels, won’t make its characters predictable, won’t smooth over their bumpy ride towards being heroes, and will provoke fans one way or another even into its fourth season.
If that wasn’t true for Arrow, it would have had Oliver check himself into a psych ward and actually address the PSTD and self-hatred that made him make all of Season Four’s mistakes, instead of driving off into the sunset – as I suggested would have been a better ending for Season Three. Oliver thinks the deal is to return to Damien’s lair with him in exchange for the release of his friends. If the promotional video is the basis of drawing such spoiler, then it appears like Felicity is going to die. Oliver makes the decision to call Darhk out on television and reveals that the villain is the man behind the attacks in Star City as well as his involvement with H.I.V.E. Could Felicity really be dead? Somehow, Damien has found a way to grow corn, lots of corn, in a windowless airtight location. He also publicly revealed Damien’s evil plans in an attempt to get Star City to unite in a common goal to get rid of Damien. She says “yes.” Then Arrow goes and ruins all the happiness. However, when Oliver and Felicity drive off in a limo, they’re surrounded and shot up by Ghosts. Oliver checks for a pulse but her fate is left uncertain.
