Mayors look to ‘ban’ Trump from their cities
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter condemned the recent desecration of Al-Aqsa Islamic Society, a North Philadelphia mosque and school.
The attacks range from the pig’s head thrown at the Philadelphia mosque to a shop owner who was beaten.
That incident prompted Trump on Monday to propose a complete ban on Muslim immigrants into the United States, triggering a fierce debate that has dominated the national political conversation. He also said if he had the power he’d ban Trump from the city, stating Philadelphia doesn’t have, “any room for that kind of stupidity”.
They’ve linked it to last week’s mass shooting in California and the inflammatory rhetoric of Donald Trump and other Republican presidential candidates.
Earlier today a Pennsylvania mayor called Donald Trump a “jagoff.” Pork is considered non-halal, or food that is not religiously sanctioned by Islamic law.
“It is a heinous act that sends a message to Arab American communities that they are not wanted here in Philadelphia, and that could not be further from the truth”, Rue Landau, executive director of the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations, said.
Kreidie says in the 23 years since the mosque’s opening, he has never experienced blatant disrespect on this level. A pig’s head doesn’t do much. “Once that determination has been made, I will follow up and let you know”. “In fact, they are doing exactly what the radicals want them to do”. An Islamic center in Florida was defaced.
“Trump is literally trying to radicalize Americans against Muslims, and that’s not what America is about”, Nutter said.
Video of the incident caught on the mosque’s surveillance camera shows that a red pickup truck drove by the property twice, tossing the pig’s head onto the lawn the second time around. The suspect said it was a prank, but the incident rattled the Lewiston Somali community.
