Paul Pierce already playing a big role with Clippers
He was happy about not only signing with his hometown Clippers, but also recruiting DeAndre Jordan to return to the club.
Chalk it up to miscommunication or bad reporting, but it’s apparently not true, according to the man himself – the State Farm spokesman – “CP3”. But it doesn’t matter [what people say].
Paul Pierce arrived Sunday night at the National Basteball Association Players Awards in a purple suit, black shades, and all smiles.
After short stints with the Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards, Pierce has returned home to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.
With the Lakers having cap space this summer, plenty of rumors began swirling about the team targeting veterans after missing out on LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan and Greg Monroe.
Perhaps blood is truly thicker than water, even when it comes to basketball relationships.
Pierce said there will be benefits to the team’s core sitting down to discuss things as they did in Houston.
It was no doubt a big summer for the Clippers and GM Doc Rivers, who made his job as coach a lot easier by adding real depth to the roster.
“I kind of sat in and voiced what I thought”, Pierce said. That move, combined with trading for Lance Stephenson, signing free agents Josh Smith, Cole Aldrich and Wes Johnson and re-signing Austin Rivers give the Clippers a much deeper and more complete team than they had last season.
While speaking to the media at the BET National Basteball Association Players’ Awards, which will air on Tuesday, Paul said that he speaks to Jordan quite often and considers him like a brother. Hopefully, this is now all water under the bridge for the Clippers. “And it’s always been a dream to play in front of my family and friends”.
